Dorm Room Decorating!

Do we say this all time, "How beautiful?!" We do say that quite a few times per day here at Quilting by the Bay but we just can't help ourselves!

This Saturday we are celebrating how proud we are of the kids that go off to college. Sometimes we are sad to see them go so far away and sometimes we are glad to turn their bedroom into a Quilt room!

Either way we need to make sure that they feel at home in their new environment. The best way we know how to do that is with a quilt, of course! The 5 & Dime quilt pattern is a piece of cake - you can have it done in a day!

We have the pattern available and you can choose from our many fabrics or you can make your life really simple (isn't that always good) and choose from either quilt kit we have in stock right now!

Pictured above is the 5 & Dime Nicey Jane kit - this is beautiful and playful. Below we have the 5 & Dime made with the line of fabrics by Amy Butler called Love. Love is a bold colored line that is striking and gorgeous. (Kits make twin size - pattern also can make Queen size but you will need to purchase yardage.)

On the back of the quilt we put Cuddle fabric to make the quilt as special and as soft as possible. We do have yardage of the Cuddle fabric and the cotton fabric available so either way you go for backing we have what you need. This is the perfect gift for someone in college - they may not admit it but I bet they get homesick every now and then between the classes and the parties.

(Here is the pattern!)

Saturday Trivia is:
Most college kids live in Jeans. What is the official birthday Jeans?
A. 1842
B. 1865
C. 1873
D. 1901

My guess is 1873!

It's 1873. Denim should be the official fabric of the USA and Flip-Flops for shoes. Gotta love cotton!

It's 1873. What would we have done without Mr. Levi Strauss!! What a concept he had!!
