Paris in the Fall

Paris in the Fall...the air is crisp and the city romantic.

That is just what Sherri Falls of This and That captures in this beautiful quilt. Featuring the French General Collection Maison de Farance by Moda this Block of the Month is a six month program that starts this coming November.

...and since this quilt captures the beauty of Paris...here are a few pictures of Paris that we thought you might enjoy:

Have you been to Paris? Or have you been on a vacation that inspired you to make a particular quilt?

Share a picture of your vacation or the quilt with us! Or, maybe this little post is inspiring you to make a quilt that reminds you of a special trip - browse our website and let us know which fabric you are going to use!

Looking forward to the pictures,

5 New BOMs - It's Block of the Month Maddness!

Want to know a secret?
Well...maybe it isn't a secret...more of a well known fact...

Quilting is more fun when you share it with friends!
So, call your quilting gals and start a Block of the Month Sit - n - Stitch!

Our inspiration for sharing the Block of the Month Sit-n-Stitch idea with you was a group of ladies who came in the store and all ordered 2 BOMs each. In talking with them they told us about their "meetings" which are very official and filled with food, chocolate, laughter, and quilting.

...We do admidt that they said sometimes they get more eating and laughing done than quilting - but either way we think this just sounds like a blast! ...and that is probably true for all of us...quilting and food somehow go together...

Since there are 5 new BOMs here at QBTB it is the perfect time for you and your friends to start your BOM group!

Here are the steps to starting your BOM SNS club:
Gather your friends
Pick a date each month for your meeting
Pick out some good food
Order your favortie BOM(s)
...and Have Fun!

Here are the newest BOMs in case you missed our newsletter!

Honoring Our Quilt Heritage
Beach Walk

Live Laugh Love
Life is Beautiful

House Hunting

So Many BOMs and so little time...

We would love to hear about you and your friends gathering to quilt - do you have a Sit - n - Stitch group? Are you planning on starting one? Oh, and do you have any quick and easy recipes that are easily transported to your gatherings? ...like we said...when quilters gather there must be good food!
Happy Quilting,

Graduation!

Bismark Quilt Kit

Graduation may be a ways away since school is just starting back up...but sometimes it takes that long to finish a quilt!

A quilt is a beautiful, heart felt gift for graduation. We say start now and then you won't have any stress in the spring of 2011! You can put together coordinating fabric and fabric pens in a little package and send it to each of the grad's close friends and family. They can write down funny moments, favorite memories, or even wise words for the future on the fabric. Then, you can attach the notes to either the front or back of the quilt and you have an incredible keepsake for years to come. (...and the fabric pens survive the washing machine!)

You can really choose any quilt pattern or fabric for this memory quilt. Think about school colors or the students favorite colors and badabing badaboom you are on your way to making a memory quilt!

Triple Treat Quilt Kit Teal/Brown
Triple Treat Quilt Kit Blue Whimsy

Hope we are helping you plan ahead!

Nap Time!

Ahhhh, Nap Time...

When we are kids we don't want to sleep because we can't stand the idea of missing something good - and then we grow up and wish for enough time in day to take a nap...

Well, today we are going to show you a few flannel fabrics that are great for nap time quilts...especially for the little ones in our lives that still have the luxury of nap time. Making a special quilt for your child, grandchild, child of a close family friend, etc is a sweet way to make them feel safe and loved. When we send the little ones off to daycare or preschool it is nice to know they have a little bit of comfort with them.

If you receive our newsletter you will see the adorable new flannel line that just arrived - "Wheels" - it is a great fabric for a boys quilt. Yesterday we showed you the Taffy line that is great flannel for girls. Two other great flannel lines we have in right now - Jungle Soul and Summer Song! Summer Song comes in a cute fat quarter bundle - you may want it just to sit on a shelf in your sewing room - it's that pretty!

Take a looksie:

The way to win a charm pack today is to share with us and your fellow quilters your favorite quick and easy quilt pattern that you think is a good nap time quilt! You can comment here on the blog or on Facebook - all names are placed into the drawing!

Happy Quilting (and nap time),

Slumber Party Quilts!

Little girls love slumber parties...and we have the perfect quilt for them! This Quilt in a Pillow is so fun - any little girl would be the hit of a slumber party with this quilt. (It would also be handy in the car or to take to sporting events!) Opened up this quilt measures 40" x 70" and when folded into the pillow it measures 20" x 20".

We think this Taffy Flannel is perfect for the Quilt in a Pillow. The flannels are so soft and the design is playful and girlie! Check out quiltingbythebay.com for even more fabric options!

Amy Butler Bags and Fabrics for Back to School!

Could a girl have a better bag for back to school than one designed by Amy Butler? The Frency Bag and the Birdie Sling are both large enough to hold a girl's necessities and still remain of the forefront of Vintage Chic style. This bag is great for a college girl on the go, a high school girl who runs from activity to activity, or even a Mom or Grandma who can't help but love these bags, too! Did you know Amy Butler makes a CD with 22 patterns on it? Well, it is true! The CD includes 22 new quilt, pillow, and bag designs. We promise this is easy to use - and your daughter or granddaughter will love every design!

Here are a few of the Amy Butler fabrics we have available in the store and online for you - the Love Collection provides a bright array of colors that are chic and fun!

Today's trivia challenge is really a question - who taught you how to sew and gave you your love of quilting? Are you passing your skill on to the next generation?

Answer either or both questions and be entered in the drawing for a charm pack!
