Let's Do Lunch!

As far as we remember here at QBTB, lunch was a big deal...it was definitely a social time in the day...

Today's project is a quick and easy lunch bag pattern! Another great project for the kids/grandkids to get involved in. This is also a "green" project in that instead of lots of paper bags you can consistently use this one lunch bag. ...you could even make a few for the kids so they can change it up at lunch! Another great idea...applique or embroider their initials to add that special touch.

We really like this Metro Blue line for the lunch bag - would make the bag crisp and modern. There are so many fabrics to pick from - this week alone showcased incredible fabrics from Girl Scout fabric to Odyssea and Santorini. The boys can also have a lunch bag - remember the football fabric? ...and we have Boy Scout fabric, too. Look under our "Blending" fabrics and you will see several blue options that are understated.

Details on the Pattern:

Lunch bag 7” wide x 11” tall x 4” deep
Snack Bags 4” x 6” and 6 1/2” x 6 1/2”
Napkin 15” square

Yardage for 1 lunch bag, 2 snack bags, and 1 napkin.
Choose fabric with 42” usable width.
Main fabric 1/2 yard
Accent fabric 1/3 yard
Trim fabric 1/8 yard
PUL (lining) 1/2 yard
Velcro 3/8” or 14”-one inch wide

Not sure that the napkin will be wise to bring to school as you may end up with too much laundry - but for those special lunch days it would be lovely!

...and yes, we carry the waterproof knit - one stop shopping!

Today's Trivia isn't Trivia! (What?!) In order to be eligible for the charm pack giveaway you have to comment either on our blog or our FB page and tell us what was on your favorite childhood lunchbox - were any of you lucky enough to have a quilted lunchbox like the one we are showcasing today?

Happy Lunchtime and Quilting,
QBTB

Two Stylish Back to School Patterns

Going back to school is an important time in every girl's life. We take them shopping for the perfect back to school outfit, their friends practice "hair dos" for the first day back, and of course, they want one of a kind accessories! It is such a fun time for them and also for us as mothers and grandmothers!

Today we share with you a few projects that your daughters/granddaughters can help you make - they could even invite friends over for an afternoon of sewing!

First is this super simple Cash and Carry Bag - it is perfect for an ID, credit card, cash, and the essential lip gloss every young girl must have! This project does involve a zipper and we assure you it is a piece of cake! Want your daughter/granddaughter to try their hand at applique or embroidery? This little bag has a small outside pocket where they could put their initials - a small, easy first project!

The second project we have for you today only takes one jelly roll! That's right - with one jelly roll you can make ALL five bags in the pattern! With all of the adorable, contemporary fabrics we have here at QBTB we are sure your girls will find just what they want!

We have seen many young girls in the store instantly gravitate to Odyssea, Santorini, and Gypsy Rose and there are many more on our website.

Now to win a charm pack...On this blog you will see that you can "follow" the blog...Click to follow our QBTB blog and then comment below this post on the blog itself to let us know you did - you will be automatically entered in the Charm Pack Giveaway! We will pick the name at random first thing on Wednesday morning so stay tuned to see if you are the winner!

We hope you get a chance to enjoy your daughter/granddaughter for a day in the sewing room before they go back to school and cheer-leading and texting and shopping and all those other very important activities!

Fun times,
QBTB
