Thanksgiving Pretties!

Do you have a favorite Thanksgiving tradition? We had someone in the store this past week who was buying fabric for an apron for herself - we will call her Sally. Sally mentioned that it is her own personal tradition to make a new apron every year to wear while she is in the kitchen cooking Thanksgiving dinner. She said it was her little pleasure each year - something to add a little "pretty" to her day.

We thought that was just a beautiful idea! So, we walked around the store and thought, hmmm, which apron would be fun and which fabric would we use?

We picked out the My Other Kitchen pattern. Why this one in particular? Because it is a quick and easy pattern and you can even make an apron or small gift for those that help you in the kitchen!

My Other Kitchen is a pattern that includes a reversible apron, placemat with napkin, oven mitt, three-pocket hanger, dish towel, and a scone mix bag with a recipe for White Chocolate Chip Scones! (If you are really really on top of your game you could give a gift to your guests - a scone mix bag with the recipe and mix!)

...we decided just about any fabric would be cute because, well, we were having a hard time picking out our favorite! ...but here is an option or two...

Daisy Doodle is a fun way to spice up your day and make you smile - wouldn't this be a cute apron?!

Or...if you want fun and elegance then you may like Blush!

...or maybe you are lucky enough to not have to cook and this can just be a hostess gift!

November Already?!

Are you sometimes SO BUSY with everything you have to do each day that you don't realize how much time has passed?
Can you believe it is already November 2nd?!
Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away!

First thought -  "Ugh, I will have to clean the house."
Second thought - "Ugh, I will be in the kitchen all day."
Third thought - "Oh, I get to make a new quilt for the holiday!"
Fourth thought - "I will have to do this soon!"

So we decided to share a jelly roll that is festive for the Thanksgiving and a pattern or two for you to pick from for inspiration - after all, we all need to get started on this soon so we have it done in time for Thanksgiving dinner!

Drum Roll Please......"drum drum drum drum drum"

How perfect is this fabric for a festive fall table topper?!

Jelly Braids Pattern is perfect and easy - take a Sunday for yourself and spend the day making this quilt with the Pumpkin Spice Jelly Roll!

The good part of these quilts? ...even if your house isn't as "clean" as you would like it for all your company....they won't notice because they will be looking at your beautiful quilt!

...this is a huge benefit of being a quilter at the holidays - distract from all the work you couldn't get done by blinding you guests with quilt beauty!

So we want to know - are you the main host this Thanksgiving or are you traveling to visit family and friends?

Happy Quilting!

Market!

Sandy and Sue are off at market having the time of their lives!!

Aren't we all a little bit jealous? Yes, you can admit it...don't you wish you could have tucked yourself into their suitcases!?! ...well, maybe we can't bend that way anymore...but it would have been fun to go with them!

So some of you have asked what market is...

Market is a quilter's heaven! Close your eyes and picture what a quilter's heaven would look like...you would see beautiful fabrics, nifty notions, creative patterns, and just miles upon miles of booths filled with quilt paraphernalia! ...and that is just what market is!! Everything good in the quilt world comes together for an amazing quilting adventure...oh yeah, and LOTS of shopping!

Since we can't all go to market...cause you have to be a store owner or in the industry to attend...the wonderful people of Quilts, Inc also plan a HUGE quilt festival! The festival begins just as market is ending - so this is something to add to your bucket list!...and they do more than just one quilt festival per year so check your calendar, gather a few friends, and book a plane ticket or load up the RV!

You can join the International Quilt Fest on Facebook and check out their website to learn more about market and the festival in general!

As Sandy and Sue mentioned earlier they will be posting all kinds of fun updates over the weekend - when they get back we will do one big blog post with pictures and if we can, some sneak peaks!!

...and while they are away we will have some fun here at the shop for Halloween so also be ready for some quiltin' fun...and next week we start sharing lots of great Christmas gift ideas!

Happy Quilting,
